Working from home
Anyone that has ever worked in an office knows how stressful it can be. With the commute, office politics and endless meetings, the stress just doesn’t seem to stop. Others saying, “I work from home,” sounds too good to be true. This, especially, when you just don’t feel like getting up in the morning, and want to just stay at home. Now you can work from home using the Internet.
For many people, working at home sounds like a dream come true.
For others, it is a nightmare. You must understand that it is still work and not everyone can do it. Many people start working at home as a stopgap measure while they look for other jobs when they are unemployed. Some people discover that they like this freedom so much that they make it their “real job.” But as I said, this is not for everyone. It is very important for you to be able to:
- manage your own time.
- be a very flexible (because working for yourself means constant exposure to new projects and challenges)
- be a fast learner (because these new challenges mean that you must develop new skills at fast rates)
If you want to work from home you must also think about the changes in your income compared to your lifestyle. Most people that decide to work from home experience a decrease in their income. This means that you have to calculate how much money you need and divide that, so that you know how much money you need to make per hour in order to be able maintain your current standard of living. It helps to look at your current expenditures and see if you can cut back some of the costs.
The rewards!
There are great rewards for those that manage to work from home and surpass all these obstacles. Working from home means balancing your professional and your personal life. Since you are your own boss and typically do not have strict working hours, you can do lots of things that are almost impossible with an office job. Some of these things include: working overtime to build your business, getting together with your family and friends, and making more time for your hobbies or other personal interests.
