Making money from eBay
If you are thinking of making some extra money on the Internet you might want to consider selling items on eBay. If you are looking for a great alternative to a garage sale, look no further than eBay. But you should understand that selling items on eBay is a bit different than an actual garage sale.
The difference between eBay and a garage sale
First of all, when selling items on eBay, keep in mind that you must rely on pictures and brief descriptions of your product, which means that the customer relies on you to accurately describe the quality and features of the product. On the other hand, you are selling products to customers you don’t come in direct contact with, which means that you are trusting them to send proper payment. eBay eliminates most of the worries concerning non-paying bidders.
Be extra careful when selling items on eBay, because unlike a garage sale, where the customer picks up the product and leaves, on eBay you have to:
- wait for payment from the winning bidder
- wrap the package carefully and mail it (via UPS, Postal Service, etc)
- notify the customer that you have shipped the product (typically via e-mail)
Also, you must be careful when describing the product to the customer, because the customer will return the product if they feel that they have been given a wrong description of the product.
Where to find the items
The next thing you should know when selling items on eBay is where to get the products you want to sell. Good places to find items to sell are yard sales. You would be surprised how many things you can find there. You can buy from stores that have sales or discounts, and then resell the products on eBay. Or you can drop ship products directly to your customers.
Drop shipping or bulk wholesalers
If you want to go one step further in your quest to finding items for selling on eBay, you might try to look for products that sell in stores or catalogues and then contacting the manufacturer in order to try to find a wholesaler that will sell it to you in bulk quantities. This is a great way to get lots of products for selling on eBay but it requires a lot of legwork, and you must be prepared to do it.
