Finding a Supplier
The first thing to do after deciding to sell through home parties is to find a supplier. The supplier is the wholesaler that you will be dealing with and whose merchandise you will be selling. They sell their merchandise at wholesale prices and you sell them at retail. That way you have a large margin of profit with room to offer discounts and specials to your customers. The profit margin varies quite a bit from supplier to supplier, depending on your costs.
I mentioned a few suppliers before but there are many, many more than those. The biggest thing to keep in mind is that you want a supplier to drop ship to your customers. When you place an order with your supplier, you need to be able to enter your customer’s address so that the merchandise can be sent to them. Also, make sure that there is now minimum order amount to deal with. If your customer wants just one item, you need to make sure that your drop shipper will fill this order without any extra fees.
You do not have to use a company that has already established a home party program. You can simply go find a supplier that offers a product or several products that you believe in, and then offer these at home parties. If the company doesn’t have an established home party program, then you may want to get some brochures or catalogs printed with the items listed that you are selling.
The best resource for finding wholesalers that will drop ship to your customers is the Drop Ship Source Directory. Someone has already done all of the research for you and put the information in one easy-to-access place. Finding a legitimate wholesaler on your own can be rather difficult and frustrating as these companies try to keep a fairly low profile. They deal through distributors (like you).
The distributors, or middlemen, prefer to keep their source under wraps so that their customers will go to them instead of directly to the wholesaler to buy their merchandise. That’s the only way they make money. The Drop Ship Source Directory has listed over 4,000 brand names and over 3,000,000 (yes, that’s 3 Million) products! You are sure to find some great products to sell to your customers at home parties. You can choose anything to sell, from gifts and home décor, to sneakers and sports gear. Plus, the Drop Ship Source Directory lists all the contact information that you need for these wholesalers. You will be able to contact them easily by phone and email to ask questions and start your home party business.
When you find a drop shipper that you would like to work with, order some sample products. You want to make sure that your customers will be getting what they paid for and that the items are a good quality. You can then take these samples to the home parties and show them off. Customers are more comfortable buying a product when they can put their hands on it first.
